Hsi Lai Temple was established through the efforts of Venerable Master Hsing Yun, founder of Fo Guang Shan. After more than a decade of preparation and support from Buddhists in many places, it was completed in 1988. The temple’s name means “Buddhism coming to the West,” reflecting the aspiration to spread Buddhism in the West. The temple follows the symmetrical layout of traditional Chinese temples, and its architecture draws on the style of Ming- and Qing-dynasty palaces. The Main Shrine Hall enshrines Shakyamuni Buddha, Medicine Buddha, and Amitabha Buddha. Monastics continue to reside here, where education, practice, and cultural exchange are conducted according to the principles of Humanistic Buddhism.西来寺由佛光山创办人星云大师推动兴建，经过十余年的筹备与各地佛教徒支持，于1988年建成。寺名意为佛法西来，体现佛教向西方传播的愿景。寺院采用传统中国寺院的对称布局，建筑借鉴明清宫殿风格。大雄宝殿供奉释迦牟尼佛、药师佛和阿弥陀佛。今天这里仍有僧尼常住，并以人间佛教理念开展教育、修持和文化交流。

- Wear a shirt with sleeves; avoid shorts, short skirts, and slippers. Shoulders should be covered when entering the Main Shrine Hall, in keeping with the temple’s dress requirements.穿有袖上衣，避免短裤、短裙和拖鞋；进入大雄宝殿应遮盖裸露肩膀，尊重寺院着装要求。
- Remain quiet and do not disturb people engaged in practice. Photography is permitted only outdoors for personal use; photography is prohibited in halls and other indoor spaces. Commercial photography requires prior permission.保持安静，勿打扰修持；拍照仅限室外个人用途，殿堂和其他室内空间禁止摄影，商业拍摄须事先获准。
- Do not bring meat, fish or poultry, or alcoholic beverages. Smoking and drone use are prohibited on temple grounds. Check the official website for visiting hours before your visit, and follow directions from parking staff.不要携带肉类、鱼禽或酒精饮品，寺内禁止吸烟和使用无人机；参访前查看官网开放安排，并服从停车工作人员指引。
